You Know You Want a Phyte Club Hat

Crown thyself queen or king of the botanical realm with a Phyte Club trucker hat!

hanging on my favorite street tree, the madrone-related, non-native Arbutus unedo, a.k.a. Strawberry Tree

It took about a year to decide I was okay “mass producing” these (and by that I mean ten hats in addition to my original one). I love them for their sun protection, hair-taming capabilities during whipping winds, and savvy marketing appeal. I’m less-than excited that they’re made in China and composed on non-biodegradable, non-renewable resources. Sometimes I fear copping some otherworldly (a.k.a the lower half of CA) “style,” like when I wear this hat with Uggs and jean shorts. And sometimes the planet doesn’t need more crap, even if its cool crap.

But, the positives — plus the various friends who’ve requested them — won out. The end result is, I think, kinda cute.

So, if you want one and promise to actually wear it rather than hang it all lonely on some n’er seen rack in the attic (YOU are my billboard!), let me know at katie@phyteclub.org. Don’t forget to include your mailing address.

Special thanks to Briana of AZHIAZIAM, who’s screen-printing prowess is up there with her impeccable blog-maintenance skills. And to Tim Lehi of Black Heart Tattoo, for without him, I would have some lame logo.
